Daytona Racing Dial
Case and Material
The Rolex Daytona Reference 116523 combines a 40 mm Oyster case made of stainless steel with a striking yellow gold bezel. This material mix ensures an elegant appearance and high resistance, while the polished bezel with tachymeter scale underlines the Daytona’s sporty DNA. The watch has spent most of its life in a safe as an investment and is sold with a fresh service and unpolished.
Dial and Functions
The black dial offers a clear contrast to the gold accents and ensures excellent legibility. Three totalizers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock allow for the measurement of chronograph hours, minutes, and seconds. Applied hour markers and luminous material guarantee good readability even in poor lighting conditions.
Bracelet and Clasp
The Oyster bracelet in stainless steel and yellow gold combines comfort with robustness. Equipped with the Oysterlock safety folding clasp, it offers a secure fit on the wrist and an elegant appearance.
Movement
The Reference 116523 is powered by the automatic Rolex Caliber 4130, a chronograph movement known for its precision, reliability, and reduced number of components. It offers a power reserve of approximately 72 hours and is equipped with a paramagnetic Parachrom hairspring.
Condition and Accessories
The watch is offered with Box & Papers from 2004 and was serviced by Rolex in March (service proof 03/2026 available).
Special Features & Historical Classification
The Daytona 116523 is part of the iconic Daytona line, which is closely associated with motorsport. The steel-gold combination and the yellow gold bezel make this model a coveted collector’s item from the early 2000s, combining technology, functionality, and sporty elegance.
Timeless design, impeccable quality in every respect, and an annual increase in value make Rolex watches daily companions and wearable investments.
As the first hermetically sealed watch in history, the Rolex, with its often-copied Oyster case, began its triumphant march across the world, and legendary models such as the Submariner, GMT-Master, Explorer, and the classic Datejust have remained visually almost unchanged since their appearance.
Only in recent years has Rolex begun to minimally adapt to current trends in watch design and, with its sports models, exceeded the 40 mm case diameter limit.
In addition to its reputation as a status symbol and sports watch for extreme situations, the Rolex watch also holds a unique place in the hearts of watch collectors as a collector’s item.
