Vintage Datejust
Case and Material
The Rolex Datejust reference 1601 features a classic case made of stainless steel and 18-karat yellow gold. The characteristic fluted bezel is crafted from yellow gold. Reference 1601 belongs to the early generation of Datejust models with acrylic crystal.
Dial and Special Features
The dial is finished in champagne and equipped with diamond indices. The date display is located at 3 o’clock and is magnified by the characteristic Cyclops lens in the acrylic crystal. The combination of the champagne dial and yellow gold gives the watch the appearance typical of this version.
Bracelet and Clasp
The watch is worn on a Rolex Jubilee bracelet made of stainless steel and yellow gold. The five-link bracelet is a characteristic feature of the Datejust and complements the combination of stainless steel and yellow gold.
Movement
Inside works the automatic Rolex caliber 1570. The mechanical movement features a date display and was used for the Datejust models of this generation.
Condition and Accessories
The watch is in slightly worn condition, has been carefully inspected by our watchmakers, and is sold with a 1-year technical warranty. The watch is the subject of the offer.
Special Features & Historical Context
The Rolex Datejust reference 1601 is one of the classic vintage Datejust models and was produced primarily in the 1960s and 1970s. This specific example comes from the 8.5 million series and is dated to 1984. The combination of stainless steel and yellow gold, acrylic crystal, Jubilee bracelet, and diamond dial combines typical features of the Datejust generation of that time.
Timeless design, impeccable quality in every respect, and an annual increase in value make Rolex watches daily companions and wearable investments.
As the first hermetically sealed watch in history, the Rolex, with its often-copied Oyster case, began its triumphant march across the world, and legendary models such as the Submariner, GMT-Master, Explorer, and the classic Datejust have remained visually almost unchanged since their appearance.
Only in recent years has Rolex begun to minimally adapt to current trends in watch design and, with its sports models, exceeded the 40 mm case diameter limit.
In addition to its reputation as a status symbol and sports watch for extreme situations, the Rolex watch also holds a unique place in the hearts of watch collectors as a collector’s item.
