Case and Material
The reference 79180 is one of the most sought-after versions of Tudor’s so-called “Big Block” chronograph. The 40 mm case is crafted from solid stainless steel and features the high case construction typical of this series. The satin-finished surface of the lugs and the polished bezel create a sporty yet robust look. The screw-down chronograph pushers and screw-down crown guarantee water resistance up to 100 meters.
Dial and Functions
The white dial with contrasting black totalizers in a panda style is not only visually appealing but also exceptionally legible. The three sub-dials display the small seconds, 30-minute, and 12-hour counters. Additionally, a date window with a classic cyclops magnifier is integrated at 3 o’clock. The red “Chrono Time” inscription is a typical detail of this series, highlighting its close connection to Rolex.
Bezel and Bracelet
The stainless steel bezel is engraved with a black tachymeter scale – both functional and a design highlight. The watch is usually worn with an Oyster-style stainless steel bracelet, whose clasp and links are designed in the typical Rolex fashion.
Movement
Inside, the automatic Valjoux 7750 movement operates – a proven, robust chronograph caliber with 28,800 vibrations per hour and approximately 48 hours of power reserve. Tudor modified the movement for this reference, ensuring reliability and precision in everyday sporty use.
Condition and Accessories
This Tudor Chronograph comes with original papers and is in very good condition. It shows age-related but even signs of wear, which further emphasize its vintage character. Box is not included.
