Rolex Submariner Kermit NOS
Case and Material
The Rolex Submariner Date reference 16610LV is fitted with a 40 mm Oyster case crafted from stainless steel. The unidirectional rotatable bezel is equipped with a green aluminium insert, featuring a 60-minute graduation for the measurement of immersion times. The case is fitted with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, featuring the signature Cyclops lens over the date aperture. Waterproofness is rated to 300 metres according to manufacturer specifications.
Dial and Special Features
The black dial is equipped with enlarged hour markers and broader hands in the so-called Maxi Dial design. The luminescent markers and Mercedes hands ensure excellent legibility in low-light conditions. The date display is positioned at 3 o’clock, magnified by the Cyclops lens. The combination of a black dial and green bezel serves as the hallmark characteristic of this reference.
Bracelet and Clasp
The timepiece is fitted with the three-piece link Rolex Oyster bracelet in stainless steel. The bracelet is equipped with a Rolex folding Oysterlock safety clasp with an integrated diving extension.
Movement
The watch is powered by the self-winding Rolex manufacture calibre 3135. The Chronometer-certified movement features a central seconds hand, an instantaneous date with rapid setting, and a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. The frequency is 28,800 beats per hour.
Condition and Accessories
The watch is in unworn condition and remains in its original factory seals. The factory protective films are still intact. The scope of delivery includes the original Rolex box and Rolex papers. This specimen features a randomly assigned eight-digit serial number, known as a Random Serial.
Special Features & Historical Context
Reference 16610LV was introduced in 2003 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Rolex Submariner. It was the first Submariner to feature a green bezel insert and earned the nickname “Kermit” among collectors. Unlike subsequent Submariner generations, reference 16610LV still features an aluminium bezel insert and the classic 40 mm case without the Maxi Case proportions. Production ceased in 2010 with the introduction of the successor reference 116610LV. Specimens with a Random Serial are attributed to the late production phase of this reference. The original factory-sealed and unworn condition is particularly noteworthy for this now-discontinued reference.
Timeless design, impeccable quality in every respect, and an annual increase in value make Rolex watches daily companions and wearable investments.
As the first hermetically sealed watch in history, the Rolex, with its often-copied Oyster case, began its triumphant march across the world, and legendary models such as the Submariner, GMT-Master, Explorer, and the classic Datejust have remained visually almost unchanged since their appearance.
Only in recent years has Rolex begun to minimally adapt to current trends in watch design and, with its sports models, exceeded the 40 mm case diameter limit.
In addition to its reputation as a status symbol and sports watch for extreme situations, the Rolex watch also holds a unique place in the hearts of watch collectors as a collector’s item.
